Yettie! Welcome aboard. You seem to grasp the rules just fine.
When we draft Ruth and Gehrig and Mantle, etc, most of time we expect to use the highest dollar card and you don't have to designate the price on those. However, there are certain players (take Mays for example) where a lower priced card is often preferred. If you want Willie's '65 card instead of his '62 card, you put Mays (10.76) when you pick him. Just remember to draft the card you picked. No fair putting Duffy's el cheapo card in the autodraft when you picked his high value card. By the way, this rule only applies to the eight guys you will draft on the ILC board.
