I though Grove was an Athletic? Does Boston get his rights when Philadelphia selects someone else? So there is a strategy then to waiting it out?

Players with more than one team designation go to the first listed franchise; if they choose not to use said player, the second listed team has that opportunity.

Most of the time, waiting doesn't matter. But, on rare occasions, if you are the second listed guy for, say Frank Robinson (He's first to Cincy, second to Baltimore/SLB), it would pay to wait and make sure the Reds do take him.

I’m not certain that rule is written clearly and probably wants to be addressed in future iterations. Although I realize this is 13 and I’m the only one thinking the way I am but I read it as saying each player got their primary assignment. Secondary assignments, in the manner in which I read it, only came into play when the primary team or teams was not chosen. For instance, with Cronin the WAS franchise was not selected and so he became the property of the BOS franchise. That makes sense. And maybe it’s just me reading it differently but I’m not certain the rules on page 1 spell it out one way or the other.

I see your point. I looked and the rules aren't clear on that. (I'll fix that.) However, we've played it this way for 12 ALT History Leagues already with no issues; it occasionally gives some franchises a chance at a better player.

It would seem awfully cruel of me to list more than one team beside some of the players if, for instance, the Red Sox couldn't get Grove?

I understand the rules as you state them, it’s just different than I was reading them that’s all. I tend to be odd at times
