Re: Biggest Loser in ATG9? *IMPORTANT UPDATE*

Managers:

One of the managers who participated in this type of league before brought this to my attention.

The spirit of the game requires everyone to play their fielders at an appropriate position. They do NOT have to play their best position, but they do have to have a position ON THEIR CARD.

You are not to draft 14 catchers and play them out of position. Barring injury, no player should ever play a position he’s not carded for.

Respectfully, I request you meet this friendly spirit of the competition guideline. If you have drafted a team of all catchers, please re-do your autodraft list immediately.

Thx to the manager for the heads up, I had not even considered this myself (but I should have!! Doh!) :o

Not sure if anyone has been following or even cares, but there was a lot of enlightenment on this journey. If anyone is interested in posting comments or questions, we had a pretty active group of managers that will be happy to chime in.

I just wanted to use this post to give a big shout out and thank you to Strat365 game support. :D

By basically reversing a lot of the daily algorithms, there were quite a few hiccups along the way that Strat ironed out both immediately and seamlessly. I couldn’t have been happier with the results, and it gave me a whole new appreciation for both HAL’s love and the amount of tech work that goes into producing our nightly results.

A very sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU!

This league cracks me up, would love to hear from the participants. Strat were very good sports to set everything up.

Probably the biggest takeaway is that while you are trying to force your opponent to outscore you, HAL is actively doing everything He can to prevent it. If you dislike HAL when he’s helping you, there’s no words for how much you’ll dislike him when he’s searching for ways to hurt you.

The second thing is that when Strat had to reconfigure the playoffs, virtually every item, from the playoff team asterisks to our home page statistics, was temporarily messed up. Here’s a sample email I received after the semis started:

What's apparently happening is that the system is trying to reset the seeding after each night of games is played, which explains why certain 1st place teams saw them back in the playoffs, albeit with no opponent. So, we manually fixed it yesterday and today, and will be doing it each day until your playoffs is over. It's no big deal.

And as far as "none of the statistics are totaling", I think it was just bringing you to the wrong page because you shouldn't have been in the playoffs under normal circumstances. I'm pretty sure they're fine when we fix the seeding issue. Please let me know if that's not the case.

I know dumping on Strat customer service is like a cottage industry on the boards, but I can tell you that everyone who participated here had nothing but good things to say about how things were run.

Sounds like it would be a blast. Sorry I missed it.

It reminds me of a face to face Strat Football league I was in where in the last game of the season two teams were vying for the number one draft pick and were both desperately trying to lose, it was insane to watch.

I finished with 84 wins (losses). I think I had a good strategy for pitching (quick pull on starters and F0 on bad, bad RP. Sadly my offense proved too competent against the other managers. If I had to do it over again I would prioritize terrible hitters over terrible pitchers.

During the regular season egnaro had by far the "best worst" team, as witnessed by his record and by the fact that my team couldn't manage to lose any of the 12 games against his! He had two incredible "weapons" in his bullpen: Russell and Botting. My main strategy was to pick a park that emphasized the HR, and then pick hitters who were by and large incapable of hitting them.
