TED LASSO LEAGUE 2023-1

I vote yes/yes.

So far, 9 owners -- representing 11 teams -- have voted yes to both proposals.

2 more teams would take us to 12 out of 18 teams, and 2 more owners would take us to 10 out of 15 owners, for the standard 2/3 vote required to change the rules.

a) Update the roster rules to:
- There will be a minimum of 25 carded players on each team, as required to join a Strat league at the start of a season.
- Each team may carry up to 7 non-carded players, including professional, collegiate, foreign, etc. They do not need to have been signed by an MLB team.

b) Update the drop/add rule to:
Drops/adds are allowed within your own 32 players during the season, per game engine rules, with 10% penalty

I tried to find some post about the motivation behind these rule change propositions, but can't find one. They seem minor and idiosyncratic, probably to resolve one GM's future roster problem. I just don't see the point in making a rule change that adds one non-carded player and subtracts one carded player. So, I guess no.

Motivation for a) is that I wrote the original rules incorrectly, because I thought that Strat now required us to load 26 players when we start a new league. As it turns out, they only require us to load 25, so I propose updating our rules to that.

Motivation for b) was that the 5/10/20% rule currently in effect made it impossible to make a trade later in the season between teams in different divisions. Trades within a division would not be penalized, but the Strat game engine would require dropping a player to trade him from one division to another -- and would penalize the team's salary cap at the rate of 20%.

This one is a toss-up, as far as what is better. I prefer a flat 10% penalty all season, although some might find the early-days 5% penalty more attractive.
