Couldn't agree more with this thread. Steve F and Frankie T in particular really nailed it with their incisive remarks.

I imagine that the impetus for this change came from Junior, no doubt influenced by his Harvard MBA. Can't let potential free advertising space go to waste and to hell with what the consumers want. It seems the changes that he has wrought in the site since becoming CEO are uniformly self-serving.

When a new CEO comes in the first thing they do is "rebrand", change the logo and website.

Certainly this may be a direction/vision things but perhaps more so an investment thing. I don't see them having deep pockets to make wholesale changes (count the users/leagues you see x the per season costs, its not much revenue).

I think it's more about the choices they makes with what little resources or tech skills they have. As a result, it's turns into what 'can we do' vs 'what should we do'. This approach often can results in a potpourri of decisions, loss of identity and meandering product roadmap. I do feel for SOM (was in small biz) and can understand to a degree but at some point you have to look at your self in the mirror and be honest.

ps- and the colours are just crazy. why so many!

The colors suck... why so bright? Does SOM think we re going to miss something...

this makes no sense. Could I say 'kids love their new toys' ? comments by some are not invalidated by age- including your own. ideas or thoughts should be debated on its own merits vs some red herring rebuttal.

Wow, lots of whining. Look I am not just being contrarian, I really love the new look!

What's not to like? Tons of new data. New players get a pat on the back for making the playoffs and winning championships. That's how you attract more new players.

Why would anyone be opposed to new players getting a pat on the back for their first playoff team or championship?

Also, I am a big fan of more data and the record books, even if they're not really complete...

I just don't understand all the negativity? I guess some people just don't like change, unless it's change that makes it so you have no control over your bullpen?

I am not saying that you guys don't have a right to complain, of course you do. Especially when you have played 2000+ teams and have given STRAT-O-MATIC $20,000 ( obviously this is a big part of your life). So I get that part of it. I just don't really understand why more data and pats on the back for new players is a bad thing?

I think this new stuff will make new players to our game play more teams and stick around longer.

And it's a proven fact that WE ( myself included) get more cranky and resistant to change as we get older. And I am just sort of wondering if that plays a part in all of this.

It is not about the new stuff that was put out there... it is about the placement of such things. I like seeing headlines from the league I am playing in. Do believe, that will get more players to come back and play another season. Nothing like seeing a headline about your team or players for that night. That is why we look at our teams, to see how they did that night. Not to see New News or Decembers Monthly Challange (or whatever else) first thing... give me the news about my team or players, put the other stuff some other place (at bottom).

I normally do not read the Discussion Forum, but had to gripe about the new look. With that being said, I was stunned and saddened by some of the comments and name calling on other posts. I am an old fella and was brought up to respect and listen to someones opinion and thoughts. Not saying that whatever the subject is, that it cannot be debated.

Age has nothing to do with change, we are all creatures of habit.

The name calling, calling someone out, or the comments made to offend or marginalize someone is ridiculous. This is a frickin game. The message boards have not been like this in the past. What happened? It is stuff like this that will keep new players from coming back (and old ones to leave).
