Spooner had 15 relief appearances. He should be a SP/RP.

But I’ll replace him anyway.

Please note: If a pitcher can start the minimum IP is 100. It doesn't matter if he is an S or S/R. Thanks - Bill

23. 1962 Ernie Banks - We have FOUR SS cards and ZERO 1B cards - Considering he played more games at 1B than SS in his career, we should have at least one 1B card - Hit 37 HR's, 104 RBI's and had a solid .993 fielding %.

Re: 22.1 Nominations are Open!

PostTue Jan 18, 2022 3:36 pm

I'd like to nominate an entire new slew of nominations that replace the current run of nominations where everyone just nominates a bunch of high priced players. There is a dearth and major lack of cheap under 1m players in this set, especially in the expansion era. It makes it really tough to play a franchise league especially with caps under 100m.

In honor and with the hopes of having a nomination list where players only cost less than 1m I'd like to nominate this unbelievable card. Tom Shopay 1969

Is it great? Yes it is. This is greatness on a whole other level. Perhaps for the 22.2 Nominations we can take a break from the regular nominations and devote a list to help teams fill out their range of lower salaried players. Nominating an entire team here and there helps but taking the time to fill out franchises in desperate need of cheapies is more important.

Here's Tom in his own words:

"When I came out of high school in Bristol, Connecticut, I went to a Phillies' tryout camp and a scout told me I would never make it. He said I was too small (Tom Shopay is 5-09, 160 pounds). Well, that same scout joined the Orioles recently and I reminded him of that statement. I told him, 'You can measure a guy's ability, but not what he has inside of him.'"

A message to both Scouts and Strat Voters that we should all take to heart.
