The ruling was that centerfielder doesn't get to make a pick to make up for Helton because the draft was over. To me that means the trade is happening post draft, after Tom has made his extra drops(say Crede and Wade) and picked the 4 batters he needed to be compliant putting him at 28 players. Then the trade happens and he gets Helton putting him at 29 and having to make a drop. I don't see how he gets to keep saltalamacchia.
if the draft wasover officially....than this trade means it happened after the draft....Giving up a pick and receiving only 1 player return while giviving up no one on his roster =29 players...illegal roster
I think the sequence would go like this: - There are 26 players on roster and team needs 4 more hitters in order to be loaded into game engine - Crede and Wade are dropped to get to 24, allowing for the 4 picks needed - 4 draft picks are made (Inglett, Blalock, Teagarden, and X) to take team to 28 - Draft is over and then future pick is traded for Helton, taking team to 29 - X is dropped in order to make room for Helton, getting team back to 28
A couple questions about the draft lottery for the worst 8 teams:
Are the 'ping pong balls' weighted toward the worst record, or do all 8 teams have an equal chance at the #1 pick? Is this an NBA style lottery where the worst record gets no lower than the #3 or #4 pick?
Not that I am tanking mind you, but with a $40 million payroll, I'm not liking my chance here......

If someone is looking for relief help in 2010 and 11, Ryan Madson is available. He has another good card in 2015 and a great one in 2017 but those would have to be for someone who could afford to keep him through 2012-14 when he has no card. Let me know if you have interest, I would be looking for a decent pick in next year's draft.

dont worry about tanking........just play the best players you can. All teams in a league like this re build...just play with sprit of the game......after game 150 we all "might rest" certain players if we are already there in the playoffs......good luck rebuilding as that is what im doing after trying to win the first 3 yrs.
