Pitching is different and more dependent on price and BP effects especially Slant.

Duncan Mercer, Weintraub are the batting equivalent of seeing the old Duren, Pineiro, Donald rotation stalwarts. Then again I see ‘roid Bonds in every league, too, as well as 57 versions of Forbes field, and those slap-happy, pre-1900 pseudo-baseball era players.

Do I get tired of seeing the same old cards in every damned league? The same strategies? Yep. But it’s everyone’s dime, so they can draft who they want. This is why I run a league that shuffles the deck (getting managers to join open random leagues ain’t happenin’).

Rant aside, the player pool is loaded with high end options. I appreciate midrange adds. I also like the new player adds. We have multiple versions of some of some players, and zero of others.

That's a good list of additions. I particularly like Votto, Ensberg, Abreu, Dejesus, Goosage, Wickman , Willie Wilson and Nomar.

It's too bad Juan Soto didn't make the cut.

Highly doubtful

Why is that highly doubtful? What's the point otherwise.

I always use the cards I nominate, when they get voted in.

Admittedly, I am jumping in mid convo here, but in my opinion, I don't leave cards in the FA pile because I don't like them, but because the price that is set for them makes them a poor bargain. So as everyone sits here and nominates cards, I am sure they don't do it thinking they are going to nominate them with no plans to use them, and in fact I bet most people are actually looking forward to using them, but then the price tag comes out and everyone says, "I am not going to use them at that cost". Nominating the best cards is just part of it. The pricing is the part that really sets what cards will eventually get used and that is totally out of this groups control.

Just my 2 cents. I still like reading through the nominations just to learn a bit more about the players and sometimes it drives me to go look them up because I find out something I didn't know.

fwiw, I feel much the same way.

I know I try to use players I have asked for, check my teams for evidence of my hero Dick Ellsworth, though I never did get the correct Steve Ontiveros (I was hoping for the SH 3b, not the pitcher)

it does seem to me that with the 'propagation' of leagues with special considerations/constraints, a case could be made for just about any player, yes, even Eddie Gaedel (if he is a DH with all walks against LHP and no onbase against RHPs (just a mixture of outs, a mixture of strikeouts, gb(p)As, popups, and maybe even gb(c)As (groundballs fielded by the catcher - a new kind of result)) and is an E, 1-6 on the bases
