I was attempting to show our newest entry Blsmith7 the league rules when I realized most of them were in past season forums, many of them fragmented in different posts. So, I decided to try and put the rules together and simplify things for now and the future.
We are using ATG player set 1901+ ( within that set is a subset entitled Post WW2; it was created on Dec 21, 2021by Falcon29) These are the cards we will be using. All players and ballparks are from 1946 to present. Any ballpark in this set may be used.
There are currently 30 franchises to pick from; each manager picks 2 franchises via the draft and builds his team from these two franchises. A manager has exclusive rights to players on his 2 franchises. If a player has a card with 2 different teams, the team with his highest salaried card retains his rights
Using Roger Clemens as an example; here are some different scenarios;
------- If both Toronto and Boston get chosen in the draft; Toronto would own his rights because they have the highest salaried card for Clemens. Toronto could use either one of Clemens' cards either the Toronto or Boston card.
-------If Toronto and Boston are both chosen, but Toronto does not have Clemens on their opening day roster, Boston could now pick up Clemens off the waiver wire once the first game is played. Boston could also use either of his cards.
------If Toronto does not get picked and Boston does, Clemens now defaults to Boston, and once again they can use either of his cards.
------Lastly, if both teams get picked and during preseason discussions the manager of Toronto informs Bostons' manager he has no intention of using Clemens, then Boston can pick him off the waiver wire without waiting for the first game to be played ( sort of a gentlemans agreement).

TRADES
Each manager is allowed to make one trade during the season. However, any player you are trading must be on your 24 man roster in order to make the trade. So, if you agree to a trade while the team draft is still underway; you must wait till the league is created, make sure the player you are trading is on your roster and then make the transaction.
This will allow everyone to follow trades easier and also to prevent managers from making controversial trades by throwing in player" rights" to conduct a trade.

FREE AGENTS
Each team will be allowed one free agent on their roster. The free agent however, must come from one of the 6 teams not chosen in the draft. Additionally this free agent must not have cards with multiple teams.
Using the Angels as an example;
-------if the Angels are not chosen in the draft, players such as Mike Trout and Ken Tatum would be eligible FAs because their only cards are with the Angels. Players such as Bobby Grich and Rod Carew, would not be eligible because they have cards with Baltimore and Minnesota respectfully.
-------to draft a FA, simply place him on your draft wish list, that way we all have an equal chance of landing a coveted player ( it would make sense to rank him first to better your chances). If you do not get the player you were seeking, and you do not like the player that was given to you by Strat; you can simply cut the undesired player and pick up another.
------lastly, you can only put a claim in for one free agent at a time, you cannot not put several players on your roster to increase your odds on landing a coveted FA.
I hope this helps a bit; whereas this is the second time today I have written these rules out. After finishing the first draft and hitting submit; the draft simply disappeared. Apparently it went straight up into the Effing Cloud !!!! Had to start all over again.
