Are obligated to keep our dispersal picks all season or can we drop at any time?

You can drop them at any time. The franchise roster, dispersal picks, and the subsequent season drafts are all ONLY APPLICABLE during the auto drafting process. You are free to add/drop/trade/swap cards and otherwise manage your roster as you see fit throughout the season without any restrictions beyond common sense and the salary cap.

Are obligated to keep our dispersal picks all season or can we drop at any time?

You can drop them trade them. Whatever you want. Think of yourself as the GM of the franchise and you have the rights to these players. Right now you have the rights to anyone from your franchise and the two players (if you choose to take two you don’t have to).
Once the draft runs you have released anyone you didn’t draft and they are now free agents. So let’s say I have the rights to John Doe right now. The draft runs and I don’t select John Doe then he is on waivers for any team to claim.

At the end of this season any of the players who retired prior to 1919 will retire and we will move to ATS2 set which contains all the players who were active 1920-23. You will protect One player from your franchises historical list. You can also use your GA to protect a second player however you may only do that once in the first 10 seasons and when you do you forfeit your first round pick. We then select all the non protected players in a 6 round draft (you don’t have to pick all six). Inverse order of finish message board draft

Am I an idiot to trade away a four-year player like Blackburne? What do you vets think?

Personally I think no. There are always cheap players. I just prefer to be set before draft

Hold onto the RPs though. They are gold next two seasons.

I started putting together this idea of carrying a franchise through baseball history in 2012-2013, but I couldn't figure a way to make all teams competitive, while keeping it somewhat accurate to baseball history. When I finally figured out the Franchise Player idea, it gave it a sense of history, but didn't give too much advantage to the Yankees and Cardinals, etc. I have a handful of guys who have played this concept since 2013. It's my favorite thing in Strat.
