I make a spreadsheet with everyone's salary and seasons of control available so I can project my cap situation into the future. I think Bryan does the same and has already planned his franchise picks for the first dozen seasons.

Good God, that sounds like lots of work for Strat game but guess if its for 22 seasons might be worth it. I am just happy to get S1 done.

Just because I have a plan didn't mean it's a good one. Haha. We are 4 seasons into league 13. My Dodgers have 2 playoff appearances and a 65 win season, so... anything can happen!

I trying to figure out how much of a difference your franchise makes after the first couple of seasons, when most of your team will be from your franchise. You only pick one (or a couple of times two) players from your franchise and the rest from the fa pool. On the other hand it would be cumulative since the season windows are fairly small, so you would have several players carrying through.
I guess we'll see as we go, but with 22 seasons it might take a long time to find out.

This seems to be the STRAT version of ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD .. and I'm gonna be the guy from the Manson family in the pool getting hit with the flamethrower

I run a spreadsheet for 22 seasons so I can figure out when to use my extra protect. So for the Phillies (and I assume Hamilton’s dodgers. I don’t want to use it before the top plAyers start appearing in the 1940s. For the cardinals I have plotted out my top pick for each year but haven’t plotted the GA picks.

It also helps me to evaluate trades so if I have a firstbaseman coming the next year I might not deal for one here but instead look for a pitcher or a something else.

The Franchise Player deal is kinda like Minor Leagues, you know if you've got the Yankees, you have this Gehrig kid tearing up the minors and moving to the big club next season.
You are as much a GM as a manager with this setup.

You also start planning the money a little. Season 2 isn’t bad as a lot of retirees after season 1 but if you want to take someone like Paul Waner for season 3 you need to be sure you know where his 9m is coming from.

Two types of problems either not enough money or not enough good players- I would rather have the money problems
