You have been doing this for a long time. Which franchises have the highest average wins per season? Is there any correlation across the dozen that are already a ways into this thing?

The Yankees are going to be a beat down, but it's the Yankees. They were my pops favorite team, so I had to do it. See you guys in season ......3?..... 4?

As to which franchises are the best? Man, I have played 9 (and the Reds and O's in different Andy format leagues) and what Andy said is true, it really just depends; and you can win/lose with any of them. I thought the Dodgers would be the easiest, but I've struggled with them in the mid seasons. I thought the Cardinals would be a cake walk, but they have also been a struggle... twice.

This format is a whole different way of thinking and it has killed my winning percentage but I really love it. Its historical and with a smaller player pool and restricted stadium choices that creates unique challenges. This format has definitely improved me as a manager. On the other hand, I have just had to resign myself to getting a beat down for certain seasons. With the A's I had to eat dirt for four seasons in a row. I had to face the same thing with the Reds in the GA league. The keeper aspect and draft order really helps to put an end to losing (unless, like I , you suck ass at evaluating players from the 90s)

You won't lose forever, but you won't win forever either.

I picked up the A's after season 7, they were easily the most challenging.
The Braves are/have been really rough, but Carr did/is doing really great with them... he's also doing better with the Dodgers than I did, god damn him.

Also, due to player adds, things have changed a great deal for ALT leagues. (it also seems like every time a great new player comes along, I've already played that franchise....damn you Pirates and A's)

Another big change was switching from 5 year increments and 17 seasons, to 4 year increments and 22 seasons. Which kills me because I am 1 for 13 in reaching the playoffs in the 90's. That era just slaughters me.

This will probably look like a humble-brag, which it probably is... but my standard for success in these leagues is making the playoffs for more than half the seasons. If I've done that, I think I've done very well. Which means I've only been really successful with two teams out of nine.
Here is how I've done with my previous franchises. I'll put them in two groups; the 5 year increment teams and the 4 year increment teams.

Pirates - 17 seasons, 7 playoffs, 1-100 win team, 2 Champions
Cardinals- 17 seasons, 8 playoffs, 1-100 win team; 2 Champions
Cubs- 17 seasons, 8 playoffs, 0-100 win teams, 0 championships
A's - 11 seasons, 5 playoffs, 1- 100 win team, 4 championships

Tigers- 22 seasons, 13 playoffs, 0-100 win teams, 4 Champions and a lot of luck

in progress
Braves - 14 seasons, 6 playoffs, 0-100 win teams, 1 Champion.. and currently getting creamed in season 15
Dodgers- 15 seasons, 10 playoffs, 3-100 win teams, 1 Champion
Cardinals- 9 seasons, 4 playoffs, 0-100 win teams, 0 Champions
White Sox- 4 seasons, 2 playoffs, 0-100 win teams, 0 Champions

If you have any questions feel free to email me or league chat me. I think all of us are pretty helpful.

(Pardon the spelling errors that I have no doubt made.nMy typing is garbage, as is my spelling- it's a bad combo)

Appreciate the talk cTs. I’ve done four seasons and it’s a learning curve.

I took the Phillies my first time through.
Starting a second team with the Cardinals. (Opening day tomorrow)
This is my third try.

The good news with the A's is that they have a good Shantz card and Joost card which weren't around when I played them. That should help mitigate that valley in the 1950's. Things pick up again after that and the bash brothers bring it home pretty good.

The bad news is you'll have to face the Red Sox, Yankees and Senators for a few seasons.... I hate the Red Sox already.

and the bad news for me is I just lost out on Shantz, Reggie, and Rickey. At least Ruth will be MVP just about every season he plays. I might pitch him in season 1- why not?

The Cards are fun, I rebuilt the Gashouse gang as best I could and won the Series that year (season 5). I had Dean and Haines, Frisch, Martin, Medwick, DeLancey and Durocher. It was a fun scrappy team which had 1 30 game winner (Gomez) and 2 20-game winners(Haines, Dean and Rixey) . A first for me in a gajillion years and teams. Things get grim in the 1950's and 60's.
Good luck with those guys.
