PETE BROWNING !!!

PostThu Mar 03, 2022 6:07 pm

Can someone explain to me why Pete Browning has a AAA stealing rating... and miserable *2-7/-(15-6) steal numbers...

His real stats show 103 SB... no caught stealing...

I can understand that steals in 1887 might have been... oh well... but still...

He should have the same kind of rating that Billy Hamilton does... 16-13 or 17-13...

Even if we accept 15... 6 if he doesn't get a good start... COME ON MAN... 6... that's ridiculous...

And why in heaven's name AAA... :o

They do this to the pre-1900 guys and even later, a lot. Guess SOM figured, because caught stealing stats aren't available, they'd take a risk averse approach or whatever, applying this approach rather uniformly across the board, even for the high steal guys then. Hard to know their stolen base percentages in a historical sense.

Pete Browning in Baseball Reference, no caught stealing stats: https://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... pe01.shtml

AAA and AAA and A don't matter, it's all in the secondary numbers of (i.e., 19-12 and so forth) that truly matter.
