Playoff eligibility (All-Time Franchise)

PostTue Mar 08, 2022 1:36 pm

Howdy,

Recently my San Diego Chargers finished an exciting regular season with 5 consecutive victories to finish 10-6! We tied for 2nd in our division and missed the play-offs, despite splitting 2 games with the team in our division with an identical record who did make the play-offs, In the other division, a 9-7 team was given a play-off birth and won the championship, to their credit. My question is: how does a 9-7 team rate a play-off spot over a 10-6 team?

Congrats on an exciting season! According to the rule book, they use one wildcard team per division. Not sure why.

Howdy,

The wild card team that made the play-off was from my division. We both finished 10-6 and split the two games we played. They did have a slight advantage in scoring differential. Thank you for the replay and the link :)
