I wondered how they were going to account for Ohtani in the new set. I assume there will be a view for his hitter card, separate view for his pitcher card and code, so that if you draft him he counts as you both a hitter and a pitcher, but only increments your total roster count by 1... and you can't draft just a hitter or pitcher card.. if you draft him, you get both..

that sounds like a lot of coding depending on the flexibility of the SOM 365 base code

If they finally coded this to work, I'll have to give them props finally

Throw in that Ohtani has OVER 600 PA's and can go down for only 3 games but as a Starter he can go down for 15. As 2city said it will be interesting on how SOM handles the coding.

Will they set him up like Ruth ATG9? he has a hitter card and a pitcher card.

I would love to see a whole Ohtani card (hitting & pitching), but I'm guessing we are going to have to settle for separate hitting and pitching cards because recoding the whole game would be too much work. That would really be too bad because if Strat can figure out how to create a complete Ohtani card, they will be outperforming all of the fantasy baseball games which are limited to separate Ohtani pitching and hitting cards.

Have stated this in the past, since each pitcher has a pitching card number 1-8 assigned, all you have to do is make a 9th one for Ohtani alone and assign that to him, problem solved.

My interpretation of "finally the full Ohtani experience" is that we are in fact going to get a complete Ohtani card. I guess we won't have to wait too long to find out!

Yes, I believe their Ohtani comment was to point out in advance that they have resolved the embarrassing Ohtani situation from last year. Perhaps they replaced a lazy programmer and got it right this year.

That would seem to fix it....however, the way it is set up now, you would not be able to play him at DH, since the current configuration won't allow you to put a pitcher at DH, no matter how good a hitter he is. It would be more involved than that. Also, it doesn't allow you to bat your pitcher anywhere except 9th. Again, that would be a problem, since Ohtani never hits 9th. Seemed like a simple solution, but there are more complexities to it, I suppose.
