interesting real MLB streak. Not so sure it is relevant to the premise of the posts. Though this is an isolated example of streaks in the real world, it is just that, an isolated example. What people are talking about per this post, is that these streaks in STRAT are an on-going pattern, that occur again and again.

Although there definitely seems something wrong on the run differential, if you go back to real baseball (baseball reference), all pennant winners (over 95%) were in top two in run differential.

So that would lead me to believe there is an issue with program.

However - I do know that the ballpark factors are way to impactful on this game and that in fact may cause this issue on run differential.

Personally I feel like there definitely is an issue....this team below would meet all criteria

it started off 36-18 then didnt play .500 ball rest of the season as it finished 86-76. It had a 173 positive run differential in a ballpark that was postiive for homers. If finished poorly in regular season then dominated the playoffs. (momentum theory)

all interesting stuff, of course the team hit 505 home runs and since no MLB team has ever come close to that, that may impact run differential. But lets face it, if your run differential is high, the only thing that can hold you back would be your recond in 1 run games. This team was horrible in that regard.

All interesting stuff...i luv the online game and have done well (so far) at it, but sometimes it does make me wonder when my bullpen is blowing 9 run and 7 run leads in bottom of 9th inning in the same series...LOL

Checking back in, great thread. To be clear, I'm as in the dark on these features as most of you...I've been told by reliable sources they exist i.e. Bernie told me there's negative pitcher's clutch ratings, but no one that plays will ever see them bc those pitchers wouldn't ever be drafted...ofc there's a ballpark ratings for doubles and triples that you need a map and a compass to find, but it is available (I don't know where) It was written in a Strat piece far back about a "hunch feature" i.e. play a scrub and watch him get 3 hits...there's momentum feature (as discussed) but to what extent I have no idea...there's a pitch around feature, that as far as it's explained, doesn't happen often...artificial drama (paraphrasing) in the playoffs, well, that's the first I've heard of this, but it sure does seem to apply, as my 100+ win team title record at one point was 1-25.....I've quit this game 3 times...the 2nd of the three times I quit was immediately after, and because, I won a title with a garbage team, I concluded at the point things that should rarely happen, routinely happen...I could go on but on a different note, maybe (hmmm)

Some great insights there Nev and for the record I have heard some of those and not others, but I absolutely believe they all exist.

My problem is ... We pay to play a game that we don't even truly know the "rules" to. And that is wrong!

There are thousands of seasons played here online. Winning streaks and losing streaks happen here just as they happen in real life.

MLB teams have long winning and losing streaks happen in the same season all of the time. But it is going to happen with our teams even more often because there are thousands of leagues in play.


If you wish to truly understand, try a college level textbook on statistics and probability.
