Can we have a discussion about why the first round should start on a date certain and be timed? I think the current situation is a good example of why it should be so. Next week I may be out of internet contact because of travel and, theoretically, we could still be waiting for the first round to finish, meanwhile, MLB opening day also looms.

If everyone knows the date of the first round when they sign on it should be a simple matter of course. It is inherently unfair to the majority of players that we must wait interminably for compliance before we can move on. I believe this current system of an open first round is cumbersome and maddening. I would like to open a discussion on changing this rule.

Good point - and I might also be for this - but the uncertainty surrounding the drop date of cards may make this a bit more difficult to pinpoint a good set start date for the draft.

Yes that's true. I have been doing Strat-o since 1964 and the drop dates do change. However, if we would have simply started on the same date as now but had a time limit from the beginning, we would already be well into the second round at this point. I respectfully request a re-examination of this method.
