I don't think that idea is workable. There are way too many contracts in place that people would want no part of. Whether it be superstars that would take up too large of a percentage of your salary cap, aging players that still have a year or two left on their costly contracts, injured guys like Strasburg, players like Conforto or Lindor who had poor 2021s but that will still cost you a ton of money. You might say well just don't sign guys like that. The problem is with 24 teams we're signing 960 players. There are only around 1025 players in the strat game. Almost all of those terrible contracts would have to be used. You could raise the salary cap but I think that would adversely affect the free agent process that's such an important part of your creation. To me one of your best ideas was how to do the original draft since bidding on 480 players would have taken months. Having their SOM price in 2019 be their starting salary and incorporating their years of service into a straightforward way of doing contract extensions was key. If we are to have a chance to get 24 people to give this a try I think you should keep it as simple as possible.
