He may not have a Strat-O-Matic card, but he is an All-Time Great. RIP

He's been missed in the booth since his retirement in 2016, but all of us Dodger fans still hear his voice in our heads. Iconic and a true legend, RIP Vinny!

Easily the most important person in my "baseball life". He's been missed since he retired. Sad day. RIP Vinnie

Here are a couple of Vin's classics:

Mets vs. Red Sox - 1986
Gibson

But his stories are why he will be remembered. They were seamlessly interwoven with the play by play. I always got nervous when there were 2 outs and 2 strikes and the story was still unfolding. While he had to talk fast on occassion, he always finished the tale before commercial.

The Bumgarners and Snakes
The History of Beards He got so caught up in the story that, for once, he didn't mention that the "deuces are wild". 2 balls. 2 strikes. 2 on. 2 out.
Whitey Herzog and Satchel Paige
Telling his Dad about Pearl Harbor
The Borough of Churches v. the Giants
Redheaded kid 80 years later.

It was interesting on the stories told by Vin Scully classics on YouTube. Searching around a bit was a surprising video on YouTube of Branch Rickey newly named President of the Continental Baseball League on What’s My Line supposedly formed in 1959 and to begin play in 1961 with the US and Canada offering teams to compete with the National and American League teams. However, that never formed. Good to see Chuck Connors on the panel!

Just a tidbit of trivia..
Sincerely,
Delivery Boy…
