Franky, curious as to why you went from 90s as your second choice the first time around to 70s now? If you had selected 70s as a your backup, we'd be gearing up for that set already.

I am hoping for a first ever 90s Finals, even though it is my worst set, winning percentage wise. Would be fun to see something different than the usual 70s/80s Finals.

EDIT: And I am genuinely curious because Franky is very measured in his choices - and enjoy reading his thoughts - nothing of a negative nature though when I read it back with no tone it could be interpreted any which way.

Yes, gritch is correct. I was wrong in my earlier post. In fact, I was very wrong. The series between franky and jmdzuiban is irrelevant to the 70s/90s decision. It is simple - if takanahana defeats Richard, then the 90s win. If Richard defeats takanahana, then the 70s/90s decision is tied (39 each).

I'm glad you asked! When I made my earlier pick (1st choice 2000s, 2nd choice 90s) I was thinking these would make for more variety. I was also thinking that I'd be ranked 2nd and the 90s and 2000s have good choices at #2. (It's a name that rhymes with Maydro). It turns out that I'm ranked first, and I don't have a favorite #1 for the 90s while I have a strong #1 preference for the 70s. And sticking gritch with the #2 pick in the 70s is also good strategy.

Also, with the uncertainty over the draft, I prefer the 70s to the 90s. If I am doing the whole draft by proxy (that is, if I am not actively looking at my picks while the draft progresses) then I prefer the 70s since I think I can make better proxies for the 70s than the 90s.

All that said, if we use the 1 hour per pick live draft, then I would prefer to switch my vote to the 90s. I feel like I know how the 70s draft will go. I don't know how the 90s draft will go, but if I can actively participate in a draft, then I can shape my team and my ballpark depending on how the draft is going.

This makes total sense to me - great thinking here - and yes, you definitely have a favorite in the 70s - would be interesting to know if gritch would go there with the top pick, if he had it.

Will the divisions be random or seated?

So Franky doesn't automatically get to prey on the weakling in 12th.

Yes, random divisions this year. Ranking does matter for draft position.

The 2 times that I qualified No. 1 were both 80s live drafts. Picked Yount No. 1 both times. Got his worst card both times.

I would make the same pick as Franky in the 70’s. He’s also correct I’m not finding a strong preference with pick #2.
