Very cool, thanks for sharing! He was an absolute sidearmer, wow.

Just image if the Big Train had gotten to pitch for a solid team for most of his career.
For many years, the Senators were pathetic.

in 1-0 games, Walter had a 38-26 record. Both wins/losses are still ML records to date.

And he pitched 110 shutouts, a record that has a good chance of never being equaled.

It seems unlikely that pitchers today will end their careers with 110 complete games much less shutouts.

Great video and comments. How crazy he really did not exploit his legs much. I did not realize he was a full-up sidearmer either.

I always thought one of the interesting aspects of his career was his fear of hitting a batter, which Cobb said was the only reason ANYONE could hit him at all -

surprised he didn't have left knee problems. like an anchor absorbing all the torque. totally diametric to Nolan Ryan using all legs.

by the way. Cobb and Johnson faced off many times. Johnson said Cobb was his toughest out. Cobb's .366 BA against the Big Train speaks volumes about just how great a hitter he was.

Agree, there may be nothing that better demonstrates Cobb's greatness at the plate than that stat...

That's a great pitching technique. It was a pleasure to watch.
