I posted the you tube version of Appling old timers HR in this forum a couple of years ago, along with Mantle hitting an old timers HR against Whitey Ford. I like Max's twitter version better, as it shows some of the other players and has a nice interview with Appling at the end. Here's the link to my post:

Nice Max. And he ran it out instead of admiring it hollywood style.
That was a treat

I also remember watching it live. I was just thinking about Appling's HR the other day and thinking about trying to find a video of it. And now it appears, like magic. I thought I remembered it barely squeaking into the stands, but he drilled it at least ten rows deep.
That NL All-Star lineup was amazing, with McCovey, Schoendienst, Pee Wee Reese, Banks, Musial, Aaron, and Kiner. And Spahn was pitching. Not a bad SOM team! And Al Kaline high-fived Appling as he was heading for the dugout, so the AL lineup must have been amazing too. :D :D

It's not like balls were flying out of RFK Stadium. The only other HRs were hit by Fregosi and Mazeroski.
