does anyone know. usually, generally, historically, statistically, on average, how many regular season innings a 'statistically typical' team plays?

i think it is probably around 162gx8.67ip to estimate for extrainnings and home game IPs

That's about right. I use an average of 26.8 outs per game (taken from part of Baseball Reference's WAR calculations) which is obviously very close to 26.7.
