Moneyball Free Agent Signings

I haven’t found any other than these two which have been on the clock a bit. I think there were several instances last year as well.

My memory of the ruling was incorrect. While it's true that one of the sections of rule 10 is wrong Phil ruled that it would be 10.01 that would be used. He said he would change 10.04 to reflect that but I guess he forgot to do that. The ruling is on page 102 of this thread. Carry on all is good. Guess the old in oldmansmith is starting to kick in.

I’m away from my computer and can’t recall what I said when this originally came up. If anyone can find the post, I’d appreciate it. I’m reflexively inclined to agree with teamnasty. Increasing length of contract at the same money (as long as it meets salary minimums) results in a greater overall offer. If I said something differently before, then I should listen to myself.

Phil, Old says he was mistaken. we are all good. you should remove the bad rule from our charter document tho

I edited 10.4. I’d appreciate any feedback on the edit, especially if it addresses the contradiction between 10.1 and 10.4.

Looks like 10.4 now reads

"In order to obtain a free agent, a team must bid more money per year AND at least as many years as anyone else."

I think that's the opposite of what you're trying to say. How bout

"In order to obtain a free agent, a team must either bid more money per year on a contract of the same length OR at least match the money per year on a longer contract than anyone else."
