Are the new eligible cards getting loaded into season 1 or just moving forward in season 2 etc

There are a lot of Nel players in the newly released cards (understatement). There's some homework sorting out who belongs in which seasons based on actual playing careers and not just their 'carded' years.

True but I don’t believe any of the Negro Leagues are considered major leagues before 1920 so those guys won’t be in season 1 anyway. Probably some I. Season 2 though

My hope would be to add them into season 1, as needed. It will take a while to research their start/end years, though, so we'll have to wait and see how the timing works out.

I did the non NEL hitters yesterday. Deacon White is the only one (of 34 possibles) I find for season one. Haven’t done the pitchers yet for start end date but I can tell you the only two there eligible for season one are Jim McCormick and Rube Marquard.

That’s 3 cards to add into season 1 unless you also want to add in the 4 RP only cards from the NEL sets.

OK, so an initial review shows:
- 139 hitter cards to add, including 79 entirely new players
- 85 pitcher cards to add, including 61 entirely new players

The more intriguing discovery, though, is about the NeL players. I had originally based their playing years on the Negro League All-Stars Guide Book that Strat published in 2009. In comparing the career years shown there with the ones at baseball-reference.com, I see there are significant differences.

Along with locating the start and end seasons for the new NeL players, I will update the start and end seasons for the ones that had already been in our cardset.

I just emailed an updated cardset for the Ted Lasso ATG League to all managers. This includes the 224 cards which Strat added to the ATG9 set on 1/11/2023. There are 140 entirely new players.

In researching the start and end years for the new players, I realized that Strat and baseball-reference.com use different parameters for the valid NeL seasons.
- For example, most of the new 1916 NeL cards are for players that baseball-reference.com shows as starting in MLB in the 1920s
- And baseball-reference.com appears to have found additional years of later data, after Strat published its NeL guide in 2009

For those reasons, I have included the broadest possible range of playing years for both the old and the new NeL players, with the earliest year from either source and the latest year from either source.

An updated custom cardset for season 1 will be added to Strat shortly. I will send out an updated season 1 spreadsheet after that has been done.

I already made my list last week. Is there a way to simply know who, among those 140 new players, are in the season 1 ?
