What could be done to............

PostSun Feb 26, 2023 10:36 am

make the Baseball 365 more popular?..This has probably been asked before but I will start with my biggest complaint ...injuries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....as far as making it better I would like to see more players added in the 5mill to 7mill range and get rid a lot of the worthless clutter below 2mill...I think most guys on here play ATG leagues in the 80mill leagues and I would like to see a 5% penalty for dropping players for the ENTIRE season made default...part of the fun for me is making moves to try different ways to improve and under the current system if you are in last place after 41 gms your season is toast....also lower the price to maybe 5 to 10 bucks per credit and maybe give the team with the best record that didnt make the finals a free credit....right now I think this is a little pricey for a new guy because his first 5 teams or more are a learning experience and as far as the 5% penalty goes these seasons are 2 months plus long and after 41 gms or 14days you can loose interest pretty quickly

You didn't share what aspect of injuries you are complaining about. If you are like me the game isn't as fun when you have injured players but I understand it's part of the game so I live with it.

I like 5% through whole season.

I don’t know about more popular, but I think there’s a few things that could improve the product. I think the biggest thing that I would change is I would add significantly more players to the player pool. I would add every mvp/cy young season to the set, hall of famers would have 4/5 cards each, each teams best 2 players at each position would be represented , as would the best statistical season at each position for every team. I would also add every record breaking seasons that aren’t included, plus I would rotate in the most recent season into the set. Maybe benchmark numbers too… every season over .400 avg , 50hrs etc…. I know that might sound like alot but ultimately I think options and flexibility within the set would make for a better product.

Over the years others have posted the same thought as Mattw0909. Aren't there already thousands of cards in ATG?
I don't play ATG but it seems to me that it would be bewildering to put together a team with so many cards to choose from. Is it that many of the cards are not usable?

Kids generally aren't growing up playing strat the way many of us did. Baseball is now a distant 3rd is sports popularity. The "baseball stats nerd" has always been a niche demographic but now's it's a critically endangered species. I am 47 years old and one of the youngest players here. My position is and always has been "let's enjoy this while it lasts!"

There are thousands of cards already in the set, with more being added every year. Almost all of the cards are useable in the right context (e.g. theme or franchise leagues). I believe the new card adds keep the product fresh and interesting, but they don't alter the product fundamentally.

I'd like to see the bullpen rules tweaked, or the pricing of pure relievers readjusted to better reflect the ATG9 bullpen rules.

Certainly wouldn't mind all playoff teams earning a free credit!

Yes there’s a lot of cards already and I don’t think a lot are unusable. I don’t see any down side to more available options when making your team. Also theres franchises that have two pitchers available over 7 million in the atg set. Making them almost unusable in bigger cap franchise leagues. Some teams have one solid option at 2b , or ss or whatever. It’s about flexibility for me.

And my comment wasn’t meant as a slight to the current system we use to add to players.

Have the replay have a real stadium overlay, lots of crowd noise, select a legendary broadcaster to listen to for the new audio output. Fireworks. Morganna.

I know none of that will work here, but it makes as much sense as everything MLB is doing to shorten games for casual fans.

My question is what's with the clickbait-ish naming of threads all the time Mr SS

I don't like the idea of 5% drop across the board due to the effect it can have on playoffs etc making it more like a rotisserie league. But isn't that already a customizable parameter with league creation? Create a league with that feature and play.

As for injuries, I like the idea of enforcing fatigue for everyday players the way we do with pitchers. But it would be a wholesale rewrite of code so is not a very helpful suggestion.

But the fatigue rate could be a league option to be used instead of an injury system. Would just be that guys reduce from 100% rested at a rate that depends on their PAs and/or missed games as already defined.

So, Josh Hamilton may decline at 12% a day until he needs a day off, whereas Cal Ripken might degrade at 0% or something very close to it before needing a day off.

It would make player availability precisely predicatable and therefore their value less uncertain.
