Moneyball 2023 Contract Decisions

Gentlemen,

It's time to start making offers to players not under contract for the 2023 SOM season. This includes all players who are pre-arb or arb eligible. For pre-arb players you are deciding whether to keep or cut (or trade if player control has any value). For arb eligible players you are deciding to cut, renew at the minimum qualified salary, or offer a contract extension. If you have a player entering an option year you need to decide whether to extend or cut. If you cut, you're on the hook for half the salary in 2023.

We can't promote prospects until after season 1 is completed as your 40 man roster is full.

Article VII.   PLAYER MOVEMENT

Section 7.01    There will be no pickups of free agent players except through the Annual Winter free agent signing periods.

Section 7.02    Prospects can be activated and promoted to the major league roster during the regular season provided there is roster space available to do so. Players with a full 40 man roster cannot promote a prospect until there is room available to do so.

Section 7.03    Regular players on the 40 man roster cannot be released in order to promote a prospect while a season is in progress.

Section 7.04    Regular players can be released from the 40 man roster only for the following reasons:
(a)     pre-draft release prior to the Annual winter free agent draft
(b) mid-season release between the end of season 1 and the start of season 2.
(c)     to bring a roster down to the 40 man limit as a result of an unbalanced transaction.
(d)     teams are responsible for the remaining contract, if any, of released players.

OK. I got it. I am at 40 players but 2 of my players got unleashed cards so i am only playing with 38 cards. That is why I was trying to promote Harris. I am really pissed about Dustin May. He pitched 30 innings so I thought he would get a card. He gets an unleashed card I guess because he had good results. Shane Baz pitched 27 innings and got a regular card.
