Not having a clock on the weekends is the most ridiculous rule in all of these drafts. 11 guys have to sit and twiddle thumbs for 18 to 42 hours because 1 person doesn't have the courtesy to check the boards on their cell phone.
As the real MLB season moves forward, and injuries and call-ups happen, it gives unfair advantage to those who've done no prior research. There were 3 transactions today that I guarantee will impact this prospect draft. With a clock, this draft would have been moving, not allowing 1 manager to take, hell, take the ENTIRE WEEKEND if they chose to, to make their decision on who to select.
Mr. Commissioner, I know you have a lot on your plate. I would like to ask that we again take a weekend clock into consideration. I make a motion that a 2-hour clock be implemented from 10AM EST to 10PM EST, 7 Days a week, for all drafts in this league. I also make a motion that there be a 6 hour clock for the 1st round of both the Prospect and the FA drafts.
Mr. Commissioner, can we bring this to a vote?
There are managers like our commissioner, who, even though dealing with a very grave personal situation, shows enough respect to his fellow managers to A) update us on what's going on, and B) makes his picks on time and actively functions as a commissioner.
I'm in 3 leagues with a commissioner whose wife died this spring, during the drafts. I offered help, which he politely declined. He was (and is) hurting and struggling mightily, yet he leads his leagues effectively, and he checks in and makes his own picks on time every time.
The disrespect and lack of concern for the other managers in your leagues is unacceptable, and poor behavior like this should not be tolerated and should not be rewarded. If someone takes all weekend and does not pick, how fair is it for the guy that follows him on Monday morning to now have only 2 hours to pick when the prior person had 60 hours? That is what we are doing when we have no weekend clock.
Thank you.
