Here's the response I got from support:

As far as I know, the catcher blocking the plate rule is in play in Baseball 365, being part of the Super-Advanced Cut-Off rule in this version of the board game rules:

Edit: Sorry the link doesn't take you to the right page - probably the decimal in 13.0

Well, nice work getting a reply. Sounds like they did not actually dive into the code to confirm. Not that they should be expected to, just saying. Now the only question is do I believe Pelletier or the employee, neither of whom sound completely certain.

I can say that I've been playing using the value Pelletier gives for catcher range in 2015: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=639093 The range of 11 runs between a 1 and a 5 is already much smaller than the value I get for the Windows game when plate blocking is on. In a neutral $80 environment if plate blocking is off, I calculate that range to be 4-5 runs just from the x-chart. (Slightly less than suggested by Pelletier's statement in the linked thread that range value is derived equally from the x-chart and plate blocking.)

So in Pelletier's system plate blocking is adding about 6 runs over a full season for a 1 compared to a 5, meaning if the setting is off, a 1 would be overrated by 3 runs and a 5 would be underrated by 3 runs. Small but not nothing, worth about 2 home runs.

Given that the Pelletier comments freeman found were more recent than the 2015 post I've been going by, personally I'm tempted to zero out that column and see what happens.

Yeah...so a company that has a simulation game as its primary business line, and the answer to a question posed about a detail of the simulation is... "As far as I know..."

What kind of answer is that?

A simple yes or no is what is sought.
Half the people here can quote the damn rules--we don't contact support to have them recited to us.

I guess Max is more charitable than I am in this case. That's horse-poo

They've set the bar so low that I see any reply at all as a glimmer of effort lol, guess they really got me conditioned.

Well to be fair, like we have both illustrated with OOTP for instance, there is zero transparency there. But that game is digital at the base. This game is dice at the base and digitally expanded.

They could go black box if they want, but they chose to implement their ruleset in a computer based sim, but some rules are more equal than others.

Max asked in another thread about catcher blocking the plate and pricing. I have also assumed that the blocking the plate rule was in effect in ATG, however I also assumed it was such a rare event that it really shouldn't impact card pricing. I see in the thread above were Max cited Marc's computed impacts and those are not immaterial, so it's something I will have to evaluate and possibly include in future pricing iterations.

At Strat HQ...in the future.

Hal VIII (to manager): take the New Guy to the sacred place...
Manager: Ok ,New Guy...time to take you on the tour.

They arrive...at the Hall of Code.

New Guy: Wow. What is this place? Who are the guys with the statues...
Manager: You should bow before them. Those are the Great Ones that wrote the original Strat code for The Game...
New Guy: Does anyone know what it's in the code?
Manager: We've lost the knowledge after the Great Crisis of the Early 21st Century when MTG/Boebert took power and declared knowledge was forbidden. We've recovered somewhat since then but other than marginal fixes we basically just turn the game on.
New Guy: How do the players know what the rules are if we don't know what it's in the code?
Manager: Players look for arcane clues by closely examining game results and then spin conspiracy theories as to why they are losing. From early records...apparently it has always been thus.

Ha...only a slight--very slight--bit of hyperbole eh? :)
Whether the blocking the plate rule is in effect is certainly not the reason anyone is winning, losing, or enjoying the game or not.

Additionally, all the game rules and most of the 365 online adaptations are listed on the site or the wiki.
You are talking about the margins...and they are slim.

But hey, poetic license makes life more interesting

Oh, there goes Frankie with his rational, logical, reasonable explanations... :D

I prefer hyperbole!

The world would be quite boring without it ;)

In fact, without hyperbole, 3.4 people per 1,000 would probably die. Instantly.
People have said this.
