Probably less than 50%, and I think the honor system usage is intriguing, but I imagine it could get frustrating when HAL spoils your plans to save a pitcher by throwing him in anyway.

You don’t have to use the honor system. The commissioner can auto drop players and if necessary impose a penalty. Even up to game 162.

The tricky ones are when someone changes cards for the same player. My rule was that if you did your limit was the Lowe roof two cards.
I tracked at bats for hitters. I know PA is more accurate but sacrifices are not easily tracked and instead of going through thr exercise if adding at bats plus walks I kind of assumed that walks would somewhat even out over a roster.

For pitchers I tracked innings and games pitched.

FYI there's a recurring league called SMURF (can't remember the whole acronym but UR stands for "usage restriction") started by chris franco that's in it's 38th season. rules have evolved over time but people who are interested in more "realistic" results should check it out. when managers bow out there's often an invitation on the boards, so keep your eyes out.

in its current iteration pitchers with less than 270 IP cannot exceed their real-life innings number and hitters with less than a 1* injury rating are limited to 120% of their real life at-bats, which is what the rules have evolved to, for a variety of reasons, since the straight usage rules at its inception. it's honor-system based with a cap penalty for the next season if any players go over their usage (it's surprisingly hard to keep usage down). it significantly changes one's approach to roster construction and is quite challenging and fun.

Matt, I never knew what that was and always looked past it. Too bad--it certainly does sound interesting.

Unless one drops an over used RP, HAL will keep using them no matter what the settings.
If a Ray Oyler type is starting at SS, HAL will pull him the first chance he gets and put in the player in the owner wants to keep out of the games because the card is at 130% of usage.
Do you know how those situations are dealt with?
