Real life involves a lot of minor league call ups for as little as 1 game.
Nothing in the real game causes 2 injuries to both SS and end up with someone playing SS for a week that's never played the position before, a AAA guy is brought up in time for the next game.
If the Yankees had to go with their Opening Day roster all season, they'd be forfeiting games because they couldn't field a team.
As far as the 28 man roster, you're making a small point about the few Taxi Squad spots that won't count towards the cap as a useful option.
1 MLB day, 14 transactions not involving moving a player on or off the IL.

Thanks, I'm aware of the existence of the minor leagues. You're talking about an extremely rare situation where everyone on a roster rated for a position is simultaneously hurt - I think it's happened to me for more than a game or two like once or twice out of over a hundred teams. Your preferred solution sounds like it's for Strat to radically re-organize and re-code the entire structure of the game to create a taxi squad subject to a separate salary cap. My preferred solution is to design teams where it would be highly unlikely to simultaneously lose everyone at a given position, and the 1% of teams where it happens anyway, to eat the transaction cost of an add-drop and move on.

I'm sorry if it seemed like I didn't think you knew there was a minor leagues.
I may have been clumsy in pointing out that your assertion about having a scrub on the roster take the place of injured starters is what happens in real life isn't how it works.
No doubt it's a big challenge for the code, and is a pipe dream to think Strat would make it happen.
My first choice for a change would be global steal commands with separate settings for each base.

All good.

It is though. The next man up is very likely already on the roster. Then that guy's place on the bench is taken by the callup. The callup doesn't leapfrog over the MLB reserve to get the playing time. The callup only gets the playing time if the starter AND the reserve both get hurt, which is rare and not in tension with my original comment.
