"My team strategy"

PostThu Jun 15, 2023 2:12 am

Hello guys,
I am not doing very well in general but I am trying to improve my team's performance.
I have a question about the set-up you adjust every day in order to perform better.
Without revealing all you secret, can you confirm that you make some adjustment day by day depending the teams you will face. (Pitchers who are good against opponents steal skill levels, PR, ...)
Just some thoughts? I already have some ideas but I just would like to make sure that these details are key in Strat Baseball 365.
THANKS et merci

With the ability to have pre-set your lineups (including backups) various ways as well as options to set up your bullpen there is very little day to day activity needed. IF you have SP flexibility, such as an extra SP to face a hard LH or hard RH lineup you could spot start a SP vs those teams but otherwise not much to do.

If you are playing the Mystery card games that is totally different. Daily monitoring, analysis and tweaking is required to be successful.

Just my opinion. There are many different ways to win and someone else may feel differently than I do.

I'm in agreement with Bombers. Once you set up all of your parameters there really isnt much you should do in terms of day to day tweaking.

Agree with but I also take into account the weakness of the team I am playing. If I play a team with a catcher with a -4 arm I will not be inclined to steal as I would with a catcher with a +4 arm. Same in the outfield with plus or minus arms. I also check the hold of the SP's and the RP's. That is about the only thing I will change. That said I have always called this a Crap Game. I love Craps and Vegas as I do this game. Always put $5 on the on the "Any Craps." It come up more than you think as does the injuries to your players. Just a helpful hint :)

I probably spend 15 minutes for each series. I consider the arms of the other team, as chasenally noted. I spend some time adjusting my lineups for the opposing pitcher and ballpark. I pay attention to whether the Pitchers rating matches what the slider says so that I know which lineup to use. I use four lineups and often times have a separate lineup for each pitcher I face in a series. If a series is in a pitchers park the lineup is more geared to OBA. If in hitters park I move guys with BP HRs higher in the lineup. Guys with W power, if any, get moved down.

One thing that takes some time is dealing with injuries. I try to prepare for this somewhat in setting up the roster. When the injuries occur it takes time to reshuffle the lineup based on the pitchers that we are facing. I seldom leave the lineup to Hal's discretion.

That is a brief description of what I consider.

Just wondering about everyone's consideration of catcher/pitcher hold ratings and outfield arms. If you set your strategy on conservative (for example) doesnt that mean that most of the time HAL will only send a runner with a certain % chance of success? Let's say 80% for extra conservative 75% conservative, 70% normal, 60% aggressive and 50% extra aggressive. The arm and hold calculations are already factored in so why change your strategy?

In other words, you choose conservative base stealing expecting 75% success probablility before attempting. That holds true if the catcher's arm is -4 or +3 regardless. Am I misunderstanding the purpose of the strategy settings?

I adjust (or at least look at) my base stealing and base running aggressiveness each day after reviewing my opponents starting pitchers hold ratings, catcher arm and outfield arms. I wish you could set a per game strategy rather than a per series, but that's a different topic.
