Being my first attempt at ATG, I was worried about building a small ball team with speed and doubles because it doesnt work in 20xx anymore. In 20xx the game is so dominated by power that you cant win without it. Looking at all the power options with ATG I was worried about being outhomered to death with any power hitters on my own roster. Can you win playing small ball in ATG?

The higher up the salary scale you go the harder it is to win with a small ball team. I would recommend 100m and below for small ball. It’s possible to do well at higher caps but a lot less room for error

This was my low-error team... I lived with some 3's in the field so I could have some pop in my park:

32 errors on the season and a ring

Agreed, 80M and 100M, definitely the best to win at small ball.

Eddie, if you're playing in Petco, that's really possible to win small ball-wise. NO worries about being outhomered in ATG if you build your roster the right way. But I do like ONE power hitter, see below, I've been lucky on a few occasions:

Petco at $110M, only power hitter was Yelich, won 97 games: https://365.strat-o-matic.com/team/1719348
Griffith '41 at $100M, won 104 games, only big bopper was Gates Brown: https://365.strat-o-matic.com/team/1702342
Braves '38, at 100M, 104 wins, Norm Cash was my lone true power hitter: https://365.strat-o-matic.com/team/1678167

DH leagues are best at either cap because you can employ the 4 aces strategy, ultra cheap bullpen, and go with a value DH platoon of Gates Brown (he'll hit in any park) and someone like Brouhard, Mercer, Shano Collins etc.

More a smallball post than low E teams...at $60M
2 of the top 3 teams in scoring have single digit HRs, currently the 45 game mark.

The S&M&M team is mine.

I generally agree, although I had success at $120M with this small ball team in a no homer park. It was a league with narrower talent since players were only available from 6 specified hitting franchises and 6 specified pitching franchises. On a lark, I decided to go small and it worked. I think one of the keys was having some power, less than almost everyone else, but at least a little. At that budget or higher if all your players have no BP homers, you get killed on the road.

Season is over, finished one game out of the wildcard. Pitching and defense was good and almost had enough hitting but couldnt overcome the homeruns from my opposition. I would have done a couple things differently after having my first shot at Petco. Mostly adding hits over on base .

My team originally posted is on to the finals, went 92-70. For the season, they had only 66 errors and a .989 fielding percentage, an awesome 770 out of 866 attempts on X rolls. But poor Dick Whitworth, the pitcher, accounted for 13 errors and a ghastly .806 fielding percentage, and only 9 of 23 X rolls made. Could've been better, but team-wise overall, pretty good. This was an experiment -- I don't think all-fielding teams are the way to go, this team was very low in scoring. I like scoring!
