Theme league - Stars and Scrubs (70's & 80's) ATG9

PostThu Sep 21, 2023 12:28 pm

ATG 9 (70's-80's) subset.
https://365.strat-o-matic.com/playerset/browse/100437
DH/90 mil/ All other rules apply as per ATG9
24 man rosters
Trading allowed after autodraft

STAR is any player with a salary over $4 mil
SCRUB is any player with a salary $4 mil or less

5 round draft on individual league chat boards. First four rounds you will draft a STAR or a SCRUB but you must draft at least one STAR and one SCRUB. You cannot have 4 STARS or 4 SCRUBS after the four rounds. Round 5 is for a unique stadium. Snake draft.

After the draft, you will place your four drafted players first on your autodraft card and then list your desired players following ATG 9 drafting requirements. You must draft a 24 man roster and maintain 24 players all season. Your roster must also have a total of four STARS (no more, no less) at all times and 20 SCRUBS.

I tried this on 20xx and got the same result. Is there something flawed with this theme or does nobody want to play a theme league anymore? Just curious as to why over 30 people look but arent interested. Please respond, thanks.

It looks like a good concept. I'm not sure, I've just got too many going to take on another.

Thank you for your response. I know that you have a ton of leagues that you seem to be commissioner of so I can fully understand.

A little help here. Over 60 views and no information as to why you dont want to play this theme league. I want to continue putting out theme league ideas just for the variation and fun but I need some kind of idea as to what was wrong with this one.

The issue I would have with this is every team will just be a platoon team outside of the four stars. I also think under four million is too high a number for a scrub. Maybe be a go higher than four for the star minimum too. I don’t think there would be many five million dollar stars being used. My suggestion maybe under two million for a scrub and over eight million for a star.

With leagues like this I also think instead of a draft on messenger and making everyone pick an individual stadium just creating the league and have it sit in the league directory will get more interest. It might be slow moving at first but over time people will test out a team when they have a credit and join. Just my two cents but if you need a player im in.

Thank you for your thoughts, Matt. You may have a good point regarding putting the league up without a board draft. I have done this type of league before without many platoons but of course they can be an option. All good advice.
