Ohtani may be added as a pitcher or hitter during the draft (max roster 28), but when you try to drop another player he will show up as both a hitter and pitcher. That is recorded as two roster spots. So while a manager has Ohtani to hit and pitch, he shows as two roster spots (max roster 27). It means if an owner drops a player or attempts a trade, they lose that roster spot.
It is what it is, ready to play ball.
