2023 Alphabet League
Parameters:
2022u cards/$100 Mil
DH
Frenzy
5% Drops
Random Divisions
25 Round Live Draft - serpentine (25 players) + Park (explained below)
Note: Exactly 25 players will have to be rostered at all times
Note: You must Draft 11 or 12 Pitchers (incl. 5 Pure Relievers) & 13 or 14 Hitters per Strat Draft Card Rules (25 Total Players)
--Unique Parks--
Rules:
* Basically you draft by letter, say 1st is A, then 2nd is B, and 3rd is C, etc etc, drafting a player whose LAST name starts with that letter. The draft goes in order of the Alphabet. Once a letter has run out of players, that letter is "empty" and we will skip that letter from then on. You can (and will) have multiple players with the same letter.
* Draft your Park in any Round along with your player pick for that round. Example, you draft Freddie Freeman. You could also draft Fenway along with the Freeman pick. The letter corresponding to the park will be the 1st letter used in the Park Index of 2022 Parks. Parks are unique.
The use of Passes will hopefully minimize the times you are stuck with the same letter. We have 3 kinds of passes that let you skip to the next letter. There is a (1) Letter pass, where IF you have already drafted that letter previously, you can pass over to the next letter. You can at anytime reuse that letter as well. There is also a (2) Free pass, where you pass a letter and skip to the next letter. There is a (3) Letter empty pass, in which all players associated with that letter are gone. Each player gets Three (3) Free passes for the entire draft. Letter Passes are unlimited. Letter Empty Passes are unlimited of course. You can only use 1 of each pass per turn [i.e. most you could skip would be 2 letters per turn using 1 Free Pass and 1 Letter Pass]. **You cannot use 2 Free Passes or 2 Letter Passes in the same turn.** It is OK, however, to use 1 FP, 1 LP, and 1 (letter empty) in one turn. Note: If a letter runs out and you want a Park from that particular letter, you will not be able to do that. Keep this in mind when you're contemplating park choices.
Also, as far as FAs goes, all trades/drops/adds must be letter for letter (i.e drop an A for an A, not B for C then C for B). All Owners must keep 25 players (in any combination) for the season in order to match the letters they drafted. You must draft an Autodraft-ready squad. Two catchers for instance. We'll do two randomizers: 1 for draft position, and 2 for which letter we start with. For example, Jeep wins first draft spot in a 1-12 randomizer. A second 1-25 randomizer will then put the letters in a random order. If '15' wins the 1-25 randomizer then Jeep starts with the 15th letter "O." The next Owner with 'P' and so on. It's 1-25 because there's no players with an 'X.'
Be mindful of the cap throughout. If you run out of cap space, and are forced to draft a player you can't afford, you will have to drop another player to make room for it. The rules used to state your most expensive player, but I find that too harsh and will deem it to be one of your top 5 players (in salary).
Keep in mind this is a pretty labor intensive draft. Whenever skipped, you will have to take that letter, no passes will be afforded you, whether you already used that letter or not. 3 hour T.L.s 11am-11pm EST. 6 hour T.L. on weekends, no T.L. for first round.
*Miscellaneous*
Now's a good time to hit on the Park Rule one more time to make certain we're on the same page. Your park is NOT a separate selection. It's picked anytime in the draft "with" your player pick. Your park has to correspond with the letter you're using. An example would be picking Dodger Stadium with deGrom. One other tidbit, if the letter runs out you would not get to pick a park from that letter. I think this way of picking our parks really increases strategies. Ask if any Questions.
Be sure you don't end up with too many Pitchers or too many Hitters. Or, not enough. Make sure you have that second Catcher. That 2nd 'C' has thrown people off before.
If you want to give me your cell number and have me text you when your turn comes up, or proxy for you, I would be glad to do so.
Good Luck & Good Drafting!
