New League Battle of the Decades

Questions —

1) Do you assign the decade?
2) If so, when?
3) If not, how do we claim a decade we know is not taken?

Essentially, one chicken-or-egg question: We need to know the decade to draft; if we draft and then join, we're not sure whether we're kosher.

P.S. — I've rarely played private leagues ... maybe once or twice some years back. So this system may be self-evident to frequent private players. Just not to me.

Right now the 70s and the 1920s are taken, I'm letting people pick their own for now.
