CUBBIES Signings:
After seasons of looking good on paper the Cape Bear cubbies are poised to make that next step in making a play-off appearance or at least this may be their best shot at one. The biggest reason is the gain of some much needed money after a few FA signings that were busts contracts were finished and no longer on the books. With the signing of OF Matt Wallner all the big ticket accusations are completed with back-ups to be added to the Roster to complete FA.The Cubbies did pull off a trade with Ober/Albies switching teams as former 2B Adam Frazier is moving to left field and D/H back up moving forward.
PITCHING STAFF:
Season ticket sales jumped 28% with the signing off All-Star Sonny Gray to a 2 year deal to be the leader on this young pitching staff. The Cubbies started big signing SP Kyle Bradish (12-7,2.83) to a 5yr 8 million deal and Gray (8-8,2.79) for 2 years @ 11,000,000 a season. Management was not finished there as the team needed a good solid LH SP and signed SP Jordan Montgomery (10-11,3.20) to a 5 year deal at 5.75 million per year. To support the starting staff the Cubbies signed All- Star Closer Félix Bautista (8-2, 1.48, 33 saves) to close out the games.
