When I drafted the league concept, I felt it would be reasonable to split the seasons into 7-year increments, which is what is currently written in the league rules.
What I did not pay attention to, though, was how unevenly the cards in the ATG 9 set are distributed. So I took another look at the entire cardset and boiled it down to the number of unique new players available in each season. See the results at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 1705943181
As you already know, season 6 had the shallowest player pool so far. Beyond that, I found:
- Seasons 9-10-11-12 have much larger pools of unique new players than any other remaining seasons; and
- Season 16 has only 60% of the unique new players that we had for season 6
I believe there are 2 solutions to this:
PROPOSAL A
As shown on that same page, I propose that we shift the years a bit after season 8, to smooth out the draft pools
PROPOSAL B
The other option would be to not allow all of the retirees from season 15 to retire. We need 800 cards in each season, in order to start a new custom set in Strat. At a quick count, there are:
- 641 cards currently available to play in season 16 and
- 183 season 15 retirees with a value of less than $4 million
PLEASE VOTE on your preferred league modification
A - Edit the years in the remaining seasons
B - Add the season 15 retirees worth less than $4 mil to the season 16 cardset
C - No modification; just cancel season 16
