NOTES ABOUT TRADING SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT PICKS
If you trade a Supplemental draft pick(s) away and do not get one (or more) in return, you will play season 2 with less than 40 players. Managers trading a supplemental pick(s) away, do not get a free pick(s) to bring their rosters back to 40 players. Currently, mysapo45 and Ghost of Roger Marris, will play season 2 with 39 players even though they will cut 2 players after season 1 prior to the Supplemental draft. Additionally, in order for Jerlins to make use of his extra supplemental picks he will need to cut more than 2 players.
Also, the draft order for the Supplemental draft is determined AFTER the completion of season 1. The order posted on the draft grid page, is merely a place holder so I can track traded picks.
I believe I can't cut more than 2 players. If I have 40 players on my roster, I will only be able to cut 2, and pick up 2 in the draft to get back up to 40. In order to have all my picks, I would need to begin the supplemental draft with 38 on my roster.
3) Owners may drop up to 2 players, but do not have to drop any. Owners with less than a 40 man active roster may use the Supplemental Draft to get back to a full 40 man roster under the following conditions:
a) They have the draft picks available to do so
b) they do not drop more than 2 players
At least that's the way I read 3b
Yeah, but rule 3b is flawed in not allowing more than 2 cuts. At least for trades.
Speaking as the guy who wrote the rules, the
intent of rule 3b, was to make sure there was never a Supplemental draft of more than 36 picks (now 24) and I thought that I needed to limit the cuts to three (now two) per manager to do that.
That was the intent.
* BUT, as it turns out, so long as there are no extra picks to bring teams with less than 40 players at the end of the supplemental draft up to 40, there will never be more than 24 picks in a supp draft even if one manager makes more than 2 picks which requires more than 2 cuts.
So rule 3b is superfluous and would prevent you from keeping your extra supplemental picks that you seem to keep trading for.
Now if you want to forgo your two extra picks, then so be it but that doesn't really seem fair.
All that said, if you all would
just do PICK SWAPS when trading supplemental picks, none of this would be necessary as everyone would always have only 2 picks.
* And the reason for wanting to limit the supplemental draft is to make sure not all the breakout players for the next card set were scooped up and therefore making the depth of the player pool for the Spring free agent drafgt the following season that much more shallow.
