60s-1.5 team challenge-Champion crowned

PostThu Apr 04, 2024 3:27 pm

Player set: Superstar 60s
Salary cap: $105,000,000
Designated Hitter: No
Drop penalty: Standard
Trades: Alllowed; no restrictions
Stadium: Use the stadium of your primary team—for those teams that had multiple stadiums, the owner can choose either stadium. For example, the Braves can play either in Atlanta Stadium or County Stadium.
Waivers: None—frenzy will be used since the rosters are already established.
Initial Team draft: Order randomized.
Secondary team draft: Snake/reverse order of the initial team draft. The owner with the last pick of the initial draft will have the first selection in the secondary team draft.
After the team draft, teams will be assigned to a division based on the roster salary of the primary and secondary selection. The 4 teams with the highest salary availability will form the east; the 4 teams with the lowest salary availability will form the west while the remaining 4 teams will form the central division.

Players were assigned to a roster based on the most plate appearances (hitters) or innings pitched (pitchers) from 1960 through 1969. An Excel sheet has been created which details player assignments. The information on the player cards has no impact on player availability. The Excel sheet will be emailed to league participants.

Owners will have exclusive rights to players associated with the team they manage. In effect, each team has a farm system. Players released remain the property of their assigned team and can be recalled subject to salary cap restrictions. Players from teams not selected via the draft are not eligible for this league with the exception of players drafted during the mid-season draft which is described below.

There were 20 teams with significant players; however, only 13 had sufficient players to be competitive. The 13 teams which will be available for selection are:

Chicago White Sox
San Francisco Giants
Detroit Tigers
Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves
Washington Senators/Minnesota Twins
Cincinnati Reds
Baltimore Orioles
Los Angeles Dodgers
New York Yankees
Boston Red Sox
Pittsburgh Pirates
St. Louis Cardinals
Kansas City/Oakland Athletics

For the team not selected and for the teams not included on the list above, the hitters and pitchers are treated as separate entities. This creates sufficient opportunities for the 12 base teams to select either the hitters or pitchers associated with the following teams.

Note: Two players were reassigned to one of the 13 participating teams. Players impacted by the changes are identified in red in the Excel sheet.

There were three players from the Royals, Padres and Expos. These players were assigned to the team their original team. These players are identified in blue.

When combined with the secondary selection, each team will have access to between 40 and up to 55 players.

Note—the players associated with the team not selected in the draft will be added to this list---the hitters and pitchers will be treated as separate groups like all other teams.

Chicago Cubs-Hitters

Philadelphia Phillies-Hitters

Los Angeles/California Angels-Hitters

Cleveland Indians-Hitters

Washington Senators/Texas Rangers-Hitters

Houston Astros/Colt 45s-Hitters
Houston Astros/Colt 45s-Pitchers
New York Mets-Hitters

Team not selected-Hitters
Team not selected-Pitchers

By selecting a secondary team—either the hitters or pitchers associated with the 8 teams listed above, this will provide each primary team with between 40 and 55 players available to the owner.

Mid-season draft logistics

Players associated with the hitters or pitchers squads not selected are not eligible to participate in the league with the exception of players selected at the midseason draft. The mechanics for the draft follow:

After game 78, the draft order will be based in reverse order of the standings. The team with the lowest winning percentage will have the first pick-the team with the highest winning percentage will have the last pick in the draft. If the teams have the same record, the team with the worse run differential will pick earlier. If the teams remain tied, the team with the worse head to head record between the teams tied will pick first. If there are additional rounds, the order will remain the same—the leam with the lowest winning percentage will have the first pick of the second round if they desire to select additional players.

Teams in the East can use $1,500,000 of their salary allotment to acquire up to 2 players.

Teams in the Central can use $4,000,000 of their salary allotment to acquire additional players—the funds can be used for one more players at the owners discretion.

Teams in the West can use $9,000,000 of their salary allotment to acquire one or more additional players.
