I’m sorry you’re having rough luck in the playoffs but just curious what’s the significance of 91 wins for this post?

Just looking at my last 15 completed teams 91 wins is just as likely to be a wildcard as it is to win a division. There’s leagues where 91 wins would be third best in a division. A 24 team league I was just in 91 wins would be good for 6th best record. There’s a few leagues that 91 would have been the best record in those 15 leagues, but there was 4/5 teams within 5 games of those teams also. It’s a bad stretch in the playoffs but you’re also playing better teams in the playoffs. When you get to the playoffs matchups matter also. Hopefully it turns around for you but it’s a small sample size and you’re just as likely to make the finals in the next 7 91 win teams. Good luck going forward.

It's not about the number 91 as much as it is about 7 straight teams that won 91 or more (between 91-100 to be precise) that also had the best record in the league (6 of the 7) and the 7th team had the best Run Differential by a wide margin, yet 7 straight failed to advance to the Finals despite being (arguably) the best team in the league.

And see my next post, because it just went to 8 straight.

Make it 8 straight quality teams that lost in the semis. Just had a 96 win team (best record in the league, 2nd best R/D in the league) fall in 5 games in the semis to the 86 win wild card team:

AND ... I've got a 100 win team (best record, R/D & Pythag in league) starting the semis in 2 nights. Let's see if I can break this streak.

I broke my streak! I had a 100 win team win the quarter finals in a 24 team league. 1 in a row and 1 out of the last 13.

Maybe thats the kick start I need.

Or, maybe my misery returns come monday night.

one thing I get tired of is all the comments that include "a small sample size"...just what is a sample size that is big enough????....lol....I will repeat what I said before whether or not the playoffs or getting there is somehow influenced by something other than the rolls "the man behind the curtain" rolls for your team Ive learned to not get too excited when I win or loose...I dont care what kind of a team you pick you either get the GOOD ROLLS AT BTHE RIGHT TIME or you dont...most every game could be decided on 1 roll of the dice you either got or DIDN"T get so I have taken a different perspective playing this...I play it more after MLB season is over and its strictly for a mental diversion from life and for me the best part is picking a team before and after the draft and seeing how the season starts after that its like a train rolling down the tracks with HAL at the controls!....like I said before I"M NOT the one rolling the dice so he gets the credit win or loose obviously you have to have a decent team strategy to start but I sometimes wonder how much that matters!...lol

Yep, not implying that I'm being picked on by HAL or that there is a conspiracy.

Just find it pretty odd that 8 very good teams IN A ROW could all get knocked out in the Semis by (statistically speaking) lower quality teams.

1 sure
2 okay
3 bummer
4 kinda crazy
5 this is getting weird
6 c'mon HAL
7 We're really starting to defy the odds now.
8 WTF???

just think about it in terms of a straight coinflip. 0.5^8 is 0.4%. 0.5^12 is 0.0024% or 1 in 4096. So if I randomly take 4096 playoff teams, only 1 time will 12 straight series losses come out unless something else is at play.

I dont believe in the conspiracy theories or that HAL is out to get people, but I do think that maybe I build teams in a way that makes me win more regular season games. Too much money spent on the #4 starter who only gets 1 turn in the playoffs. too heavily left or right to win my division but not do as well against the rest of the league.

Valid points.

But, if you are the best team in the league (on paper), you should (at least in theory) have better than 50/50 odds of winning the opening series with home field advantage.

dont know how you relate a 50/50 coin flip to losing a opening round home field advantage playoff series 8 times in a row but Ive heard it all on here when it comes to dice rolls by HAL...lol....IM in the Swinging camp here...dont know if theres more to the 365 game than meets the eye but 8 in a row under these circumstances seems a mystery to me...Ive seen things on here to make one wonder...just an example ive seen the same number rolled 3 times in a row and we arent talking one is a 7 either several times but I guess that can be explained by if you roll the dice 10,000 times that can happen...lol

Streak broken. Had a 100 and a 92 win team both advance to the Finals last night. Phew.

Next week I can start posting about Finals jinxes/luck ...  :D
