I love Trout. Great guy for the south Jersey area. Seems like a real good dude.

If you believe in WAR he’s already in the HOF. Maybe he’ll push 500 HR’s if he can figure out his injuries enough to DH the rest of the way and just slug out. It is a shame to see him dip under the career .300 BA but seems inevitable and he’ll never get back up. Crazy how much he parallels Mickey.

Yes mantle. I know Mick played thru injuries but different time and didn’t have hundreds of millions at stake. No one plays thru injuries today. And no playoffs but the 50/60’s yanks did not have draft and free agents to spread the talent out.

Both CF with injuries and considered one of the best in their era
Both dipped below .300 later in their career
Think they’ll finish with many similar career stats

Trout had a few good years, but doesn't hold a candle to Mantle in the champion aspect or in anything else, my opinion -- and Mantle was a switchhitter, very different and more difficult. Trout, a big disappointment, he was dumb not to get away from the Angels, really hasn't played a full season since before the pandemic, and really not since 2016. Front-loaded career, totally fell off. What coulda been ...

I checked out the similarity scores on baseballreference.com for what it's worth.

Through ages 23, 24, 27 his stats aligned most with Mickey, but now that he's slowing down he's most similar to the Duke. Mantle was #2 thru age 28, but his age 29 year with 1961 and his stats blew past Trout's. '61, '62, '64 were great for Mantle. Trout would need some kind of resurgence. I just don't see him staying healthy. It's too bad. How awesome was the Trout/Ohtani match up at the end of the World Baseball Classic. We need to see more of the best when the lights are brightest.

His age 28 season is where the injuries really started to compromise him. I think he’s still got a few great years left if he can manage to stay healthy. Maybe not to Mantle levels but if he were to hit 290-300 with 45 homeruns his next healthy season I don’t think too many people would be surprised.
