Give us a full report!

Here is a recap of the SOM Tourney from Marlborough MA this past weekend.

First a quick explanation of the rules of the game:
All hitters must have 300 plate appearances, except catchers who must have 250 PAs.
Starting pitchers must have 110 innings, RPs must have 40. Pitchers who are SP/RP can be used as RPs if they have more than 40 innings, but less than 110.
The draft consists of 27 rounds. 26 players and 1 unique stadium. You must have 4 SPs and as many RPs as you want, You must draft each position and also a backup. Getting multiple position players can satisfy this requirement. Managers typically draft 4-5 SPs and 5-6 RPs.
Game play starts with your lineup and SP. There are no substitutions until the 5 inning, unless your pitcher gives up 5 runs.
If you remove your SP before inning 5, the opponent can make lineup changes.
Substituting for your SP, at anytime will cause you to lose your DH, hence the need for multiple RPs (and PHers). If you have Ohtani at DH and the pitcher is removed, he can be put in as a 1B (5 e30).
The more veteran players draft hitters first, then RPs, then SPs. In the 9 team draft that I was in, Mitch Garver was the 27th pick. The one manager that picked 3 SPs in the first 6 rounds, finished last. One other manager picked 3 of his SPs in rounds 25,26,27. He made it to the quarter finals.
This was my second tourney. The first time I went hitters, SPs and then RPs. In 20 games I had 8 complete games and there were 9 shutouts (I had 7). My team had too many RPs with a big plus hold and I got beat up in the later innings. The time I went hitters, SPs and RPs (with minus holds) earlier in the draft. Still got clobbered!
Some of the managers drafted great hitting teams, defense not withstanding and defensive subs. They would swap out defense for offense in the sixth inning.
If the game went into extra innings, you would start with a designated runner at second, just like MLB does. I don't like it!
I finished 6-14 in this tourney with 7 one run losses.... 7! Acuna was my first pick. I was 3rd out of 9 in my group. Two groups of 9 drafted, each group picking from separate complete sets of 2023 cards.
Overall, it was fun, but intense and I would do it again.

Thanks for posting. I've never played D and C and enjoy learning about local tournaments.

Saturday ran from 8:00am to 11:00 pm.
Sunday ran from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Though not everyone was there at 6. Some us were already sitting on our couches!

Injury question

Can I bring a player up while the injured player remains injured? Or do I have to drop and add a player?

4) Teams may have 24-28 active players on the Strat site at any one time at the manager's discretion, subject to the salary cap and game engine rules.
5) Drops/adds are allowed within your own 32 players during the season, per game engine rules, with 10% penalty
