Example- If I got the first pick in the AL I would receive the last pick in the NL draft. Also, I think that it could be more even in each draft the people that pick the franchises first, should have the lower picks in the player draft. Example- someone takes the Dodgers as their first pick in the franchise draft should in turn get the last pick in the players draft. Having to take Detroit with their 12th pick in the franchise should likely lead to them having the first pick in the player pool. Then the draft could follow the same non serpentine schedule. Just some thoughts. I am very interested. But, want to see about this stuff before we start.

FRANCHISE SELECTION
1) AL-Only draft will begin with selection of AL franchise, with draft order set via lottery
2) NL-Only draft will proceed in a similar manner, with franchise selection draft order in reverse of that of the AL-Only draft

So yes, if pick 12th in the AL draft, then you will pick 1st in the NL one.

INITIAL DRAFT
1) Drafts will proceed as usual after franchise selection, with 1st round draft order in reverse of the franchise selection order; other rounds will follow in a serpentine manner

And yes, if you select the 1st franchise, then you will pick player #12

What do you think of trading franchises/being eligible to draft a new one after a certain amount of years?

If I’m understanding the rules correctly, the most significant impact of your franchise, especially long term, is the ballpark. It seems like someone will want to change stadiums at some point but it seems like you’d be stuck now.

Also, what do you think of having to have all sub $1M players come from your franchises, just to ensure there’s more than 4 Yankees on the Bronx Bombers for example. (Just a thought.)

Because if I’m understanding correctly, it’d theoretically be possible to have zero Yankees on the Bronx Bombers for season two, if you really wanted. Which is unlikely but still weird that it’s possible.

Just some thoughts. This is definitely an interesting concept and I’m looking forward to trying it out. Thanks, Terry.

Hey, Dr.P, thanks for your comments.

We trade teams all the time in the Ted Lasso leagues, but I had not considered that here. Let's take a look at changing franchises/stadiums after we get this first season off the ground.

As to the bench players, I don't think I'd want to require ALL of them to be from the selected franchise -- might be hard to fill in needed gaps. It might be interesting, though, to require that a certain number of players would always be rostered from the namesake team. Maybe 8? 10?

I wanted to limit the franchise selections to 4 stars up front, since some MLB teams are really stocked, while others have pretty slim pickings. It would make sense, though, to have more guys wearing the same jerseys. :D

I normally don't join franchise leagues for this reason. But with this league only requiring a 4 player commitment to your franchise and a salary cap in place, even the team picking 12th should be able to compete. Just my opinion but I'd like to see it stay the way it is on the 4 player thing.

Terry (Dr.Publix) this is my first franchise league, but how is it possible to have no players from the team you chose for Season 2. As far as changes before we get going, I think it's best to adhere to the rules very closely as laid out in Terry's (as in Commish Terry's) vision. I know he put a lot of thought into it. If changes need to be made, we can hash that out down the road.

I agree with Palmtana to refrain from changing a good idea- but this tweak would be pretty simple-
To keep the "franchise" idea alive after the first year- require a minimum of 4 players of that franchise to always be on your team and to keep, ( keeping the franchise alive) the franchise stadium. Just a thought-
