Pitcher Preferences

PostMon Sep 02, 2024 4:41 pm

Hello.

I have loved playing Strat for many years but I I still love to learn from the greats of this game!

I got to thinking about pitcher preferences and I am sure everyone has their own way of doing it.

I generally set a closer, middle man and set up man, but I don’t know if everyone uses those same settings.

I guess it will depend on your team to some extent, but I wanted to get your thoughts.

Thanks in advance!

No expert here, but I would generally add a lefty specialist to that mix!

I've tended to use fewer designations lately, since using too many often often results in HAL making odder choices than if left to his own devices. I normally designate my best reliever as set-up and don't bother with closer, since the set-up man will often end up closing the game anyway, and HAL often saves a designated closer too long for him to be of any use in the game. And if you're playing a DH league, using S8* or S9* starters, setting them to F2, F1, or F0, and then using cheap lefty and righty specialists to fill out the roster works at caps 140mill and below.

Varies by team of course but I think Mocha nailed it. I never set closer, I always set closer usage to regular. If I have one stud reliever I set him to middle man and setup and hopefully he closes out the game.
