I, too, am extremely grateful to Adrian for his creation and maintenance of Diamond Dope over the years. I consult it multiple times every day and whatever limited success I've had is directly attributable to Diamond Dope. Also, a major shout out to Andy and the rest of the community for keeping Diamond Dope current when new cards are added to the player set.
I've been using Diamond Dope for so long that I can remember when ballparks could be searched and a complete list of players used in that ball park popped up that could be sorted multiple ways, including the number of times used in that park, and players could be sorted by their actual stats in that park across various caps, including a composite winning percentage for the player's teams in a particular park.
I doubt that I would play the ATG online game without Diamond Dope, as without it, I likely couldn't compete effectively. I'm sure I'm not alone in my feelings.
With that in mind, and with Diamond Dope enhancing both enjoyment and thus team sales of the ATG game, instead of relying upon vague promises of financial support every time Diamond Dope goes down, how about if SOM collaborates with Diamond Dope and attaches a Diamond Dope surcharge to each ATG team purchased to cover the server fees for Diamond Dope?
I have no idea of the amount of web hosting fees being charged to Diamond Dope, but I would guess that a dollar per team would be a good start and that it would cause no drop in sales, as opposed to a likely loss of sales if Diamond Dope disappeared.
That way, managers who bought the most teams and presumably used and benefitted from Diamond Dope the most would pay their fair share for usage.
It's food for thought. - Bernie
