I’m considering using a three fielding shortstop (Martin Dihigo) because of his bat. Any comments would be appreciated on the pros and cons of fielding vs. hitting, especially for the shortstop position.
If you're talking about his '27 card, I would be quite willing to use him at shortstop. His hitting will more than make up for his defensive liability.
Without knowing anything about team contexts, I would prefer not to use Dihigo at SS. He plays a number of positions better. If you need his bat there are better places to play him. I am a bit skeptical about players out hitting there defense. IN ATG9 there are many good hitters that have decent defense at less sensitive positions. I would think there are better ways to build a lineup without using Dihigo at SS. If you using a hitters park in a high cap league then maybe. In an $80mil or $100 mil league I can't see it.
I think most players are better at evaluating hitting than they are at evaluating defense.
