split results

PostSun Jan 05, 2025 1:21 am

wanna make sure I understand, since I've been operating on assumption

for example, a RHB is at bat and on his batter card a result comes with a split .....like #1-8 HR and 9-20 flyB

I know the # means refer to the ballpark rating and then a 20-sided dice roll....my question is does the "#" only apply to the original 2d6 (2 dice combined for column result) ?

for example, if the game is at Coors Field, with a 20 rating (everything is a HR) for RHB, I know if a 1-8 comes as result on the 2d6, because the 20 field rating makes everything possible a HR....what I am not sure of, does the field rating make the entire result a HR ?....or only 1-8 ?.......meaning, if the original 2d6 was 9-20, would it still be an out anywhere in any ballpark ?

thanks for decreasing my ignorance

IF it is a ballpark HR symbol # then you only use the ballpark effect chart for the ballpark you are currently playing in. So if it's Coors with a 20 then all # rolls become HR regardless of anything else.

Eddie,

Thanks again for the info, and chart links.....super appreciated

I still don't understand my question

here's the situation

let's say the result on batters or pitchers card is = #HR 1-8, flyB 9-20

if the game is in coors field (so either RHB or LHB would get a sure HR), does that mean it would be HR only on 1-8 20-sided dice roll ?....or does the "#" cover the entire range of 1-20 and any result is automatic HR (because in coors)

for example, in Coors field, are both of these card results a guaranteed HR ?....or is the bottom result only a sure HR if the 20-sided dice roll falls between 1-9 ?

Lionel Decuir .50 catcher....hitting from right side (against RHP)

4-HOMERUN

#10-HR 1-9
fly(rf)B 10-20

You ignore the 1-8 completely.

thanks jj

so, even a # HR-1
flyb-2-20

becomes a sure HR in Coors Field or other sure HR park ?

Do you mean the Ballpark effect "chart" there is no split chart as the Split comes from the Cards.

Refer to the "Understanding the Strat-O-Matic card section" in the rules:

https://365.strat-o-matic.com/help/rules

Ballpark effects change with each card season. You can see the different Ballpark effects by using the player set browser:

https://365.strat-o-matic.com/playerset/browse/292

Well, you can't say "sure homerun". What it means ignore the card reading and use the Ballpark effect in its place for the Ballpark you are playing in.

Ballpark ratings change year to year.

ballpark effects change year to year ?

what about ATG all eras card set ?

if playing those leagues, do the ballpark ratings change ? (i.e. Coors Field isn't always 20/20)

or is "ratings" different from "ballpark effects" ?

sorry for ignorance

20xx parks change year to year. ATG parks never change.
