Perhaps … but a chicken and egg. My view is you would grow the user pool by having some mechanism for newbies to get a break before they get frustrated and quit. Maybe something similar to the rookie leagues?

I think the most frustrating thing for new players would be waiting forever for the league they joined to fill.

Playing against better managers offers more of an opportunity to see what really works and to improve your own approach. Competing only with rookies and bots, not so much.

Eric O loved it , though

I wouldn’t propose that all leagues need to be filtered by ELO, as happens on Chess.com, for instance. I agree we don’t have the numbers for that. Rather, I would suggest it should exist only for manager situational awareness.

In fact, I think it would be quite fun to have the freedom to either play with veterans or avoid veterans, depending on my mood. I can’t play with Magnus Carlsen on Chess.com, but I can play against the best players on Strat365, if I wanted too.

Regular SOM is more like backgammon, Mystery SOM or the Daily Leagues are more like chess.

With regular SOM not much strategy once the season starts.

The downside being if a newbie buys a 5 pack of teams and gets their ass handed to them in every league, odds are pretty good that they won't invest in any more teams.

The ELO can simply be used for a more accurate rating system. You can pick and choose your leagues, just know that your rating may be positively or negatively impacted by the players you are playing against. But if you tried to join leagues only with similar ratings, YES, they will take even longer to fill up which would make no one happy.

Don't you ever tire of belittling us with your superiority?

Posting here is for ATG discussion, and do you ever play it Mr. brown? And if you think you are so good, why don't you sign up for the Barnstormers tournament right now and prove it?

You guys play for Championships?

Aren't new and different themes much more interesting? Removing the formula teams that won most of those championships in that list?

It looks like it was directed at me, but I didn't belittle anyone at all, let alone everyone. I just simply stated a fact. Maybe this was mistakenly directed at me, since I do not know any Brads.

As for those who are jealous of my dominant records, I'm easy enough to find.

I play for the GM experience. Using 4 starting pitchers and a handful of relievers for 162 games is unrealistic and doesn't do it for me. I like the challenge of the Daily game, the Mystery Game and the retro sets. They ruined the bullpen settings with ATG9

Best of luck to all.

I won a championship once...I liked it.

I'm with PJ, I do like theme teams.
